The much-anticipated International Cricket Council (ICC) meeting to finalize the hosting plans for the Champions Trophy 2025 has been postponed to November 30, 2024. The discussions, which involve key decisions regarding the hybrid model proposed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) firm stance against it, remain inconclusive.

Champions Trophy fate will be decided today. Background of the Issue

The hybrid model suggests that India’s matches, including knockouts, be hosted in neutral venues like the UAE or South Africa due to India’s reluctance to travel to Pakistan citing security concerns.

PCB Chief Mohsin Naqvi has opposed the hybrid model, stating that no formal discussions have taken place and expressing their preference to host the entire tournament in Pakistan.

The BCCI, backed by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), has cited security concerns for not playing in Pakistan, reinforcing their demand for the hybrid model.
