It was on display early in the first session of the Test when <a href=\"https:\/\/uccricket.live\/tag\/Virat-Kohli\/\">Virat Kohli<\/a> had a heated exchange with Australia\u2019s debutant Sam Konstas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The said incident happened after the 10th over of Australia\u2019s innings. Konstas was walking towards the other end when he and Kohli bumped into each other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then both players engaged in a brief altercation before on-field umpire Michael Gough and Australia\u2019s opener Usman Khawaja stepped in. Kohli, though, changed his direction towards the batter while tossing the ball in his hand and bumped his shoulders into him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ricky Ponting, who was commentating at that moment, wasn\u2019t pleased with how the whole incident unfolded. He pointed out Kohli\u2019s fault in this altercation and said, &#8220;Have a look where Virat walks. Virat has walked one whole pitch over to his right and instigated that confrontation. No doubt in my mind whatsoever.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When asked about the incident, Konstas told Channel 7, &#8220;I think the emotions got to both of us. Taufel said Kohli\u2019s intentional move may attract a penalty from the match referee for \u201cinappropriate physical contact\u201d under the ICC\u2019s Code of Conduct.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The on-field umpires and the match referee will have a close look at Kohli\u2019s conduct during the altercation. These scoops relieved him a bit and gave him the rhythm to score runs, especially against Bumrah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following the heated exchange with Kohli, Konstas charged up against Bumrah, hitting him for a six and four in the next over. The 19-year-old batter raced to his maiden fifty off 52 balls before falling for 60 off 65.
