Gerald Coetzee’s speedy recovery from the left hamstring strain has brought him back into South Africa’s 12-man squad for the first match, which is against New Zealand on February 10 in Lahore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Coetzee, who has suffered groin and hamstring injuries that saw him miss out on participating in Tests against Sri Lanka and Pakistan, also had to pull out of SA20 2024 for Joburg Super Kings after just one match due to the left hamstring strain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Temba Bavuma will captain<\/a> South Africa for the first match of the Pakistan ODI Tri-Series 2025<\/a>, along with six uncapped players, batters Matthew Breetzke, Meeka-eel Prince, fast bowlers Gideon Peters and Eathan Bosch, plus spinner Senuran Muthusamy and all-rounder Mihlali Mpongwana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Management has recalled Mpongwana, 24, to the 50-over set-up for the second time after he was previously in the ODI squad for India in 2023. Cricket South Africa advised that additions to the squad would be announced after the SA20 2025<\/a> Eliminator between Sunrisers Eastern Cape and Joburg Super Kings on Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CSA also confirmed that Keshav Maharaj and Heinrich Klaasen were available for the second match of the tri-series against Pakistan in Karachi on February 12, as the remainder of the squad would be announced on February 9, after the SA20 final<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The tri-series in Pakistan is of huge importance to all three teams, as it serves as the last bilateral games before Champions Trophy<\/a>, which starts on February 19. South Africa is in Group B in an eight-team competition that includes Afghanistan, Australia, and England.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CSA also said the 12-man squad and support staff headed by Rob Walter for the tri-series opener will depart for Lahore on Wednesday evening, while Champions Trophy squad members like Marco Jansen, Aiden Markram, David Miller, Kagiso Rabada, Ryan Rickelton, Tristan Stubbs, and Rassie van der Dussen will depart for Pakistan on February 14.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
