Kane Williamson<\/a>, the star of New Zealand, has set a big record despite his early ouster against Bangladesh. On February 24, Williamson was caught behind off Nahid Rana in the fourth over of the second innings after scoring a mere five runs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He has gone past Fleming into the record books with the most number of runs for New Zealand in ICC Cricket World Cup events – still riding high in spirits after a below-average knock while chasing 237 in the match against Bangladesh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Going into the clash, Williamson needed just four runs to dominate all New Zealand batters with ICC ODI runs, overtaking Ian Fleming. On the first ball he faced, he got precisely that; all runs on the edges were a four against Nahid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New Zealand had won the toss and opted to bowl first. After a captain’s knock of 77 by Najmul Hossain Shanto with useful contributions from Jaker Ali and Rishad Hossain, the Bangla Tigers huffed and puffed towards 236.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rachin Ravindra, who had missed a few ODIs due to severe head blows, needing a few more tests before returning to the Kiwis, was back in the team as confirmed by captain Mitchell Santner during the toss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Of course, we would’ve liked to bowl as well. Two changes for us – Mahmudullah is back in for us. Nahid Rana is in for us as well. Out are Soumya Sarkar and Tanzid Shakib.
