Tanmay Srivastava, formerly a batter for Deccan Chargers and also Kings XI Punjab, Kochi Tuskers Kerala, and Uttar Pradesh, is going to be an umpire in the IPL 2025<\/a>. You might remember Srivastava from the India U19 World Cup-winning team in 2008, back when Virat Kohli <\/a>was captain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u00a0Tanmay Srivastava, who played a big part on that U-19 team that won it all, will be an IPL umpire this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Srivastava stopped playing professional cricket five years back and has been an umpire in local games since then.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association posted a tweet Monday night, saying, \u201cOnce a player, always a player\u2014just a different role now. Good luck to Tanmay Srivastava as he takes on this new job with the same energy.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Srivastava was with Kings XI Punjab during the 2008 and 2009 seasons, playing seven matches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Even though he didn’t have a ton of luck in the Indian Premier League<\/a>, Srivastava did pretty well in domestic cricket, racking up almost 5000 runs in 90 first-class matches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Guess who’s playing in the opening game of the 18th season? Srivastava’s old U19 captain, Kohli!<\/p>\n\n\n\n A true player never leaves the field\u2014just changes the game.
