The upcoming IPL 2025 Mega Auction is the most buzzed talk of the town right now. With the season approaching, franchises are looking to build up their squads and the BCCI is also seeking for the arrangement of the upcoming domestic tournament. This year for the 18th edition of the tournament, no ordinary auction will take place. This year it would be a mega auction that will only allow the franchise to retain a limited number of players for the upcoming season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before the upcoming IPL season, the league’s franchises are eagerly awaiting a final decision on the rules regarding player retention and right to match options. But guess BCCI is in no mood to drop hints for the upcoming IPL 2025 mega auction rules and is silently watching all the rumors, permutations and combinations of the different news sites and reports claiming this is likely to happen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following all the rumors and gossip, BCCI has invited the Franchises to discuss the rules and regarding the IPL 2025 Season. This meeting will take place on the 31st July 2024 at 7:30 PM and is likely to discuss the Mega auction rules, Player Retention Rules, Impact player rules, Capped and uncapped players etc. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

BCCI on IPL Mega Auction ahead of the Franchise meeting<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The BCCI has invited franchisees<\/a> to discuss the IPL mega auction and upcoming season in general. The meeting will be held on 31st July 2024 and a lot of discussion would be on the table for the upcoming 18th edition of the tournament. Earlier this meeting was expected to happen in the month of April but was postponed, no what this is finally happening cricket fans can expect these things to happen at the auction meet between BCCI and Franchise owners on Wednesday at the Wankhede stadium. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

BCCI meeting with IPL franchise for IPL Mega Auction 2025<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

BCCI has been in action and has heard all the franchise debate over player retention, Right to Match card, overseas players and much IPL 2025 related concerns in a meeting organized by the BCCI on Wednesday at Wankhede stadium Mumbai.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All the 10 franchise owners were invited to be part of the meeting and were present in the meeting except for the Mumbai Indians owner Neeta Ambani, who was present virtually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although the details of the meeting are yet to unfold and fans as well as all franchises are waiting for the official words of the BCCI. The meeting went for a long two hours where different franchises gave their different opinions on the mega auction, player retention, salary cap and IPL Purse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meeting highlights of BCCI with Franchise<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Talking on details of the meeting, Delhi Capitals owner Parth Jindal said that- “No real outcome. It was just to hear all the different perspectives from all the owners and the BCCI has heard us and now they will give us all the rules. Hopefully, by the end of August we will get to know the rules for the next cycle,<\/em>” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Talking to reporters he also said that the meeting has ended with no consensus among players in the context of the number of players that they wanted to retain for the mega auction. He said some want 8 or some want 10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    IPL 2025 Mega-Auction Rules: <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    1. Player Retention Numbers to Jump <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    Player retention has been increased to 6, allowing franchises to keep any no. of overseas players and a maximum two uncapped players in the team. The choice would be the total of the franchise about whom to keep and whom to release for the mega auction and there will be no nationality boundation applied to the franchise. According to the new retention rule, the IPL team can retain a maximum of 5 capped or overseas players and a maximum of 2 uncapped players. However, retaining players might affect the financial situation of the IPL team as the amount will be reduced directly from IPL Purse which is 120 crore for the IPL 2025. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    In IPL player retention, the salary cap and retention rules are essential. The BCCI has established policies for teams, where retaining players requires a portion of the team\u2019s budget or salary.
