The 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) was a grand success, and it overtook all the previous editions in terms of engagements with the fans. Kolkata Knight Riders ended their trophy drought, and with Shreyas Iyer as captain and Gautam Gambhir as mentor, KKR went on to win their third IPL title, beating Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final.
There were a number of stars for KKR and other teams, but some of them made a massive impact on the team’s performance. Every season, the IPL governing body picks the (MVP) most valuable player of the season, and this time it was veteran KKR all-rounder Sunil Narine. But there were some other players as well, who made a big impact. Hence, we will talk about the Most Valuable Player in the IPL 2024 and some other good performances.
Sunil Narine – Most Valuable Player in the IPL 2024-25
KKR made it to the final and won it very comfortably, and if we look at the journey of the team, we will find one thing common, which was the performances of Sunil Narine. The veteran all-rounder was promoted up the order by Gambhir, and he showed his best version with the bat so far. He had his best season with the bat, and his impact at the top was massive.
Narine ended up scoring most runs for his team in the IPL 2024. He scored 488 runs in just 14 innings at an average of 34.85 and a blistering strike rate of 180.74, with one century and three half-centuries and 33 sixes. There were 8 batters who scored more runs than Narine in the IPL 2024. But why he won the “Most Valuable Player” award was because he won matches with the ball as well.
He was one of the most economical bowlers in the tournament, where teams were scoring 200+ totals for fun. Sunil Narine took 17 wickets at a brilliant economy rate of 6.69. His all-round performance was the main reason that KKR could win the title. That is why Sunil Narine was Most Valuable Player in the IPL 2024.
