After the stampede at Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) victory parade in Bengaluru during IPL 2025, rumors started doing the rounds that RCB might be banned from IPL 2026. The stampede which resulted in several deaths and injuries has put franchise management and event organizers under the scanner.
FIRs have been filed against RCB’s event organizers, Karnataka State Cricket Association officials and police personnel for negligence. Discussions are on about the penalties that could be imposed including a ban.

But the BCCI hasn’t made any official announcement on sanctions against RCB. Right now the government is investigating and the BCCI hasn’t taken any decision. In the past IPL has suspended teams temporarily but RCB’s case is still being looked into. The decision will be taken based on the findings of the investigation on spectator safety and any signs of negligence.
Despite the rumors no new IPL team has been announced to replace RCB in 2026. RCB is still listed as one of the franchises for 2026 IPL in the schedule and team list. Though there is a lot of speculation going around no new franchise has been declared as a replacement for IPL 2026. Till BCCI makes an official announcement the plan is to go ahead with the current 10 teams including RCB. News outlets, fact-checkers and BCCI officials are saying this is all speculation and an official decision will be taken only after government investigation and legal proceedings are over.
