Lucknow SuperGiants (LSG) have a young history in IPL cricket. They made their debut in 2022, although the franchise owners fielded a different team (Rising Pune SuperGiants) for the 2016 and 2017 season. After their team, Pune was defunct as per the agreement, the franchise made a comeback after five years. The SuperGiants, this time around, don’t seem to be going anywhere.
In the three seasons they have participated so far, they qualified for the playoffs in 2022 and 2023, followed by a seventh-place finish last year. This time around, the team would like to perform better after going through a series of changes in the team during the IPL 2025 mega auction. Four overseas players who could play for Lucknow SuperGiants
1. Mitchell Marsh
After a few seasons, the two-time ODI World Cup winner for Australia managed to get a new team in the form of Lucknow. The all-rounder might open the innings for the team, given the lack of experience among the Indian top order options.
2. Aiden Markram
The former Punjab Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad player will now play for Lucknow. The two-time SA20 winning captain could partner up with Marsh at the top order. Last year, the South Africa T20I captain didn’t play enough games for the 2016 winners.
3. David Miller
The South Africa international has joined the franchise after being part of Gujarat Titans from 2022 to 2024. The 2022 IPL winner is a definite starter in the playing XI given his skills in the middle and lower-middle order.

4. Nicholas Pooran
The former West Indies T20I captain was among the retained players ahead of the 2025 auction. The 2017 IPL winner has been in great form in the shortest format of the game in the last 2-3 years. As the team has good Indian bowling options and middle-order options, Pooran will take the fourth overseas player slot.
