The 18th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) is still 7-8 months away from now. Hence, all the ten franchises have to make some bold decisions. Rishabh Pant
There were some rumours that DC might release their captain Rishabh Pant, but the franchise owner, Parth Jindal, denied all those claims in an interview. That means Pant is all set to lead DC in the IPL 2025. He has been a consistent batter for them over the years and has scored most runs for the franchise in IPL history. Even in the IPL 2024, he was the top scorer with 446 runs at a strike rate of 155.80. He is also a keeper, captain, and batter, and this is a rare package.

Kuldeep Yadav
The wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav is currently India’s best T20I spinner, and he played a massive role in India’s T20 World Cup 2024 win. He is also a consistent wicket-taker for DC. He took 16 wickets in 11 matches in 2024 and is very effective on Indian pitches. So, he will be another retention for DC ahead of the IPL 2025.
Axar Patel
Just like the above two, all-rounder Axar Patel is also a core player for Delhi Capitals in the IPL. He has been a solid performer for them in the IPL. He played a significant role in the T20 World Cup 2024, and with a winner title, he will become a hot buy if he enters the auction. Axar took 11 wickets and scored 235 runs with the bat. Jake Fraser McGurk
DC will also want to retain one overseas star. They will look to release David Warner, as he has already retried international cricket. Then, they will have a choice between Jake Fraser McGurk. The Australian opener brought his fearless approach with him. He scored 330 runs in just nine innings at an incredible strike rate of 234.04; that’s what DC wants at the top.
Tristan Stubbs
Tristan Stubbs is another good option. He has established himself as a potential match-winner down the order. The South African star scored 378 runs for DC in 2024 at an average of 54 and a strike rate of 190.90. He scored runs in a pressure situation. So, DC might retain one of these two ahead of the IPL 2025 auction.
Abhishek Porel
Wicketkeeper-batsman Abhishek Porel, who hasn’t played for India yet, showed a lot of potential this season. He was used in different positions and took advantage of every chance he got, proving his skills. Delhi Capitals is likely to keep him because they see a lot of promise in him for the future.
