After finishing among the bottom-ranked teams in the three consecutive seasons, Sunrisers Hyderabad certainly stunned everyone in the IPL 2024. And it was the Australian mindset which Pat Cummins brought in, and SRH looked like a formidable unit. Six players whom SRH can retain/RTM ahead of the IPL 2025 auction
1. Heinrich Klaasen
The South African superstar Heinrich Klaasen is one of the most powerful strikers in this game right now. He is unmatchable when it comes to this format. He scored 479 runs in 2024 at a brilliant strike rate of 171.07 with four half-centuries. Klaasen is also a keeper and is someone who can win games in the middle order. Because it is easy to find a top order batter, but there are rarely match-winners in the middle orders.
2. Abhishek Sharma
The star opener had an incredible season with the bat, and he ended up hitting most sixes in the tournament that had some of the best powerhitters in it. The Southpaw also made his debut for India after his performance and struck a T20I century. Abhishek scored 484 runs at an unbelievable strike rate of 204.21 with 42 sixes. SRH has groomed him into a matchwinner, and he also adds value with the ball. Hence, we believe the franchise might retain him ahead of the IPL 2025 auction.

3. Pat Cummins or Travis Head
With the rule of only two overseas retentions, SRH need to decide between Travis Head or Pat Cummins. The Australian captain changed the mindset of the team and also did well with the ball. He took 18 wickets at an economy rate of 9.27. But his captaincy was superb throughout the competition. So he can be retained.
But the franchise signed him for INR 20.5 crores, so if they release him, there are chances that they can resign him at the auction around such a prize. That’s where they can decide to retain Travis Head. Because of the way he is batting at the moment, he will be a hot pick if he goes into the auction. Adding to that, by retaining Head, SRH will keep their opening pair intact.
4. Bhuvneshwar Kumar or T Natarajan
There will also be a toss-up between two Indian pacers, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and T Natarajan. These two have been very consistent over the years and have won many games for the franchise. If they get the option to retain six players, we believe both will be retained. But if not, then only one of them. Bhuvi has been with the team since 2014 and is the leading wicket-taker for the team with 157 wickets.
He is excellent with the new ball and bowls well at the death as well. His experience is one reason that SRH can think of to retain him. But he will be 35 years old ahead of the IPL 2025, and there are chances that he might play for another three years. That’s where T Natarajan can be a great pick. Natarajan has been with the franchise since 2020 and has been excellent. So, one of these two can be retained ahead of the IPL 2025.

Nitish Kumar Reddy
Nitish Kumar Reddy has become an important player for his team this season. He scored 303 runs at a strike rate of 142.92, with three match-winning innings.
