As did the 2023 ODI World Cup, the Champions Trophy 2025 has the same four semifinalists: India, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. Former competition winners, all four teams will be anxious to include another ICC title on their trophy cabinet.
India will meet Australia first in Tuesday’s semifinal and South Africa will face New Zealand a day later in the second.
South Africa batting superb AB de Villiers believes the two teams advancing to the title match will be the same as the T20 World Cup last year.
India won a volatile 2024 T20 World Cup last over South Africa.
On his YouTube channel, de Villiers said, “It’s tough to say (the two finalists of Champions Trophy) but my gut feel says India-South Africa – same as the T20 World Cup final.”
IF we might see that transpire once more. South Africa will, I believe, be finally seen. He added, “The victory against England would have made South Africa very sure.
Having won two games of the group stage with one prematurely terminated owing to poor conditions, South Africa progressed to the last-four stage. Their much-awaited meeting with Australia was a total washout whereas their victories include Afghanistan and England.
South Africa’s results in the current tournament impress de Villiers.
Only the look of the team appeals to me. Marco Jansen in great shape, Rassie van der Dussen and Klaasen in form with Keshav Maharaj. Wiaan Mulder has a great look; he is quite useful all around. Getting that final once again will be great. India and South Africa He continued, I believe it’s always a wonderful last.
But two powerhouse teams are certainly not New Zealand and Australia. Particularly the Australians, they always appear to be banging on the door in ICC trophies,” he would say finally.
