A T20 squad for the three home T20 internationals against Bangladesh was announced by the PCB without Shaheen Shah Afridi, Babar Azam, and Mohammad Rizwan for the very first time. Taking charge for the first time as the head coach was Mike Hesson, who has replaced Aaqib Javed. As they look forward to the T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka in 2020, Salman Ali Agha will be leading the side.
Shaheen went on to play in the last T20 series against New Zealand held in March, while Babar and Rizwan were dropped for the second consecutive series amid mounting criticism about their slow scoring.
The PCB explained that the squad was picked on the standings in the ongoing Pakistan Super League, which ends on the 25th of May. Shaheen has so far taken 12 wickets in 10 matches for Lahore Qalandars in the PSL.
The squad includes: Salman Ali Agha (captain), Shadab Khan, Abrar Ahmed, Faheem Ashraf, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, Hassan Nawaz, Hussain Talat, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Haris, Mohammad Wasim, Mohammad Irfan Khan, Naseem Shah, and Sahibzada Farhan, Saim Ayub.
