As the latest IPL 2024 victorious team, Kolkata Knight Riders newly appointed mentor, Gautam Gambhir has emerged as the immediate next candidate for a chance at the head coach position in India, replacing soon to be mentor, Rahul Dravid.
Gambhir has always had patriotism, a characteristic that has always been seen in him and revolves around the phrase “Desh K Liye Karna Hai,” which translates to ‘have to do it for the country’.
But, taking the offer of being the head coach of Indian would come with certain drawbacks because the job demanded that he or she travel a lot, and this may pose a big problem to Gautam since he has a family.
He has multiple characteristics and occupations; one among them is being an entrepreneur and a mentor who has managed to build his own business empire; however, if he decides to become a head coach, he may have to give up these activities.
It is said here that despite these bumps in the road, Gautam is said to be keen to assume the position after his meetings with the cricket board.
One cannot determine whether Gambhir has officially taken up the role as KKR’s head coach or not, Going by speculations that have been doing the rounds in the IPL circles, Gambhir’s formalities have been carried out and fixed, and the appointment is waiting for affirmation.
As for the current positions, it is significant to note that the parties are still in a discussion and are thinking through their strategies. It is clear, therefore, that if Gambhir accepts the offer and then begins this new chapter of his life; this will be a big leap in his post- playing career and may hold the potential to influence the Indian cricket team of the future.
The issue is still under approval and all the nations are waiting for BCCI to give the green light for Gautam.
