The first loss for Mumbai Indians turned out to be their seventh game after the nail-bitter win for Gujarat Titans at the Wankhede ground. Titans had a tough chase with the rain and wind with a tricky pitch there to add to their woes. Indians set a score of 155; however, the Titans played cautiously, considering the weather. However, after the rain delay, the goal was revised to 147 in 19 overs, and they won under the last ball with three wickets in hand.
Both made mistakes which could’ve afforded the opportunity for recovery. Four dropped catching chances-in which Guj Titans dropped three, and Mumbai one. Tilak Varma had a cheap drop against their captain Shubman Gill when he was 35, and Gill only added a few to that score, which were crucial runs.
Captain Hardik Pandya feels that the dropped catch was not really the major factor, rather the no-balls, which affected them greatly. He admitted to a worst over in which he gave away 18 runs including two no-balls, and Deepak Chahar went over again, while defending 15 runs.

“Those dropped catches didn’t cost us too much. We did okay with that,” Hardik said after the match. “But the no-balls, that’s a big mistake. It usually comes back to bite you, and it really did this time. Still, I’m proud of the team for giving their all and staying competitive.”
Pandya spoke of the Indians being 20-25 runs short in the batting department and congratulated his bowlers for their efforts. “It was not a 150 wicket; it felt more like a 175 pitch. We definitely fell short by 20-30 runs if we had batted well. But the bowlers fought hard and stuck to their lines,” he said.
“The pitch wasn’t too wet in the first innings, but it got slippery as the game went on. Rain interruptions are never ideal, but that’s part of the game,” he concluded.
