Jasprit Bumrah is often considered one of the top bowlers in the world right now, but he’s been dealing with an injury since the last Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in 2024-25 held in Sydney. He missed the Champions Trophy this year and hasn’t played in IPL 2025 yet. Recently, Mahela Jayawardene, who is the head coach for Mumbai Indians, mentioned that they’re still waiting to hear from the National Cricket Academy about Bumrah’s status.
Good news is circling around because a video surfaced of Bumrah bowling at full speed at the NCA. This gave fans a glimmer of hope that he might be coming back to action soon. In that video, he was running in like his usual self and seemed comfortable when he bowled. If he gets the all-clear from the NCA and joins up with the Mumbai Indians, that would be a huge lift for the team since they haven’t had the best start to the season, losing their first two games.

Having Bumrah back would really add some power to their bowling lineup. It would also help captain Hardik Pandya better manage his bowlers, especially on pitches where scoring runs can be easier.
Looking ahead, Mumbai Indians’ next match is on March 31 against Kolkata Knight Riders. After that, they have games against Lucknow Super Giants on April 4 and Royal Challengers Bangalore on April 7. Unfortunately, it sounds like Bumrah won’t be ready in time for the KKR match, but the team is keeping their fingers crossed that he’ll be fit to play by the time they face LSG or RCB. If not, it looks like his comeback might be against Delhi Capitals on April 13, which will be held in the capital city of India. Let’s hope for the best!
