Some news has emerged about the Indian pacer Mayank Yadav. A host of injuries have kept the right-arm seamer off activity, and now he is following Jasprit Bumrah’s recovery plan. Seen as a bright future prospect for India, Yadav missed most of 2023 after sustaining a back injury. For the same reason, he did not also play in large parts of the IPL. Since Oct 2024, he was out; he returned and played against Mumbai Indians only to be sidelined again after two IPL matches due to a back injury.
CricTracker recently reported that Mayank is heading to New Zealand to consult a specialist. Bumrah also encountered back problems and had fast-tracked a visit to a doctor there when he was diagnosed with a stress fracture in 2023; that very same doctor attended to him during his recent setback in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Following the directions of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Mayank is to be sent to New Zealand to keep him from further injuries and also to regain his speed, as he has lately been below the 140 kmph mark. This anomaly news hints that Mayank might stay out for a little while, which in turn may impact his chances of locking a spot in India’s T20I Team. He debuted for India in 2024 against Bangladesh, where he took four wickets in the series.
