Before the 4th Test against England, Sanjay Bangar spoke about Jasprit Bumrah’s place in the XI. He feels Bumrah gives the team what it needs to win and tie the series.
Bumrah was supposed to play only 3 Tests to manage his workload. He played in Leeds and London and will play the 4th Test.
Bangar said Bumrah strengthens the team. His Test record abroad has improved recently. Bangar thinks India now has what it takes to win.
Bangar said the series is on the line and India needs to win. He said Bumrah can do well anywhere. Batting was easier in the first 3 Tests but conditions should favor bowlers more in this Test. So India might not have to bowl many overs to get England’s batsmen out.
Akash Deep is out with a groin injury joining Arshdeep Singh and Nitish Kumar Reddy on the sidelines. Anshul Kamboj might debut but the focus is on whether Prasidh Krishna will play.
Bangar said it’s a tough choice between Prasidh and Anshul and that’s why the decision is delayed. He thinks Prasidh has done more so far. For the Test match they need a bowler who can make the ball bounce. Prasidh will play instead of Anshul. He challenges batsmen differently and has taken key wickets. Yes he has been expensive but where there is pace there is bounce.

Bangar said if they let Prasidh play both games it will clarify if he can be a regular Test bowler.
Rishabh Pant who is recovering from a finger injury completed a long training session.
Bangar thinks Pant’s availability helps the team’s structure. KL Rahul is the backup option. Pant brings stability to the XI. Bangar said some players do better when they have a knock because they focus more. Keeping wickets keeps you involved and if Rishabh is ready it means he is fit enough.
