Shikhar Dhawan has shocked the entire cricket fraternity as he has announced his retirement from international and domestic cricket on August 24 (Saturday). It came as a surprise to many, but the Southpaw has decided to retire, with an emotional message on social media for fans. He wrote that he would retire from international and domestic cricket.

Notably, Shikhar Dhawan played his last game for India in December 2022, which was an ODI game against Bangladesh. But he lost his place after the emer”ence of Shubman Gill and other young openers. The 38-year-old posted a video where he thanked everyone for their love and support and made his announcement.
Dhawan said, “I am announcing my retirement from international and domestic cricket. As I bid farewell to my cricketing journey, I have peace in my heart. I played a lot for my country. I only say this to myself, that you don’t need to be upset about not playing for your country again, but be happy that you had the opportunity to do so.”
Since making his debut in October 2010, Dhawan has represented India in 34 Tests, 167 ODIs, and 68 T20Is. He sc”red 2315 Tests, 6793 ODIs, and 1759 T20I runs with 24 centuries and 55 half-centuries in international cricket. Dhawan was the Player of the Tournament in the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy, which India won. He also won the Golden Bat at the 2017 Champions Trophy. He had an excellent international career. Most runs in Champions Trophy for India; Shikhar Dhawan played in the 2013 and 2017 Champions Trophy, and India made it to the final in both editions, and he was the top scorer. Dhawan has scored the most runs in Champions Trophy history for India and is third-highest overall.
