Ravindra Jadeja recently criticized the PR game in Indian cricket, without naming anyone. He suggested that some cricketers might be buying likes and followers on social media. Jadeja made these comments in an interview with his ex-teammate Ravichandran Ashwin on Ashwin’s YouTube channel.
During the chat with Ashwin, he referred to the PR culture that is said to exist within the Indian team, thus starting speculations among social media circles about big names like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and KL Rahul.
Jadeja pointed out that a player has to earn respect in the dressing room and that they cannot make themselves credible on social media if they lack respect.

His words come when PR campaigns have indeed become a bona fide “thing” for certain cricketers who seem to be growing their image through this channel. Interestingly, Dhoni who also plays with him in the IPL mentioned that unlike those he had seen in the past, he never chased PR. Back in 2024, Dhoni had also given an indication to the PR angle by saying that real good players never need it anyway.
