Reportedly, the divorce of star India cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and his wife Dhanashree Verma is finalised. As per various media sources, the couple concluded all formalities at Bandra Family Court on Thursday.
Chahal and Dhanashree were asked to meet the counsellor for about 45 minutes during which the duo told the judge they were seeking divorce due to “compatibility issues.”
It is reported that they have been living separately for the past 18 months.
The couple arrived at the court around 11 AM with the verdict being finally announced at 4:30 PM.
Chahal has played 72 ODIs and 80 T20Is for India. He had married choreographer Dhanashree in December 2020.
They had first met during the covid-19 lockdown when Chahal contacted Dhanashree to take her dance classes.
They eventually started dating before tying the knot.
In the wake of news about the finalisation of their divorce, both Chahal and Dhanashree have made cryptic posts on their respective Instagram accounts.
“God has protected me more times than I can count. So I can only imagine the times I’ve been rescued that I don’t even know about. Thank you, God, for always being there even when I don’t know it. Amen,” reads a post shared by Chahal.
On the other hand, Dhanashree captioned, “From Stressed To Blessed. Isn’t it amazing how God can turn our worries and trials into blessings? If you’re stressing about something today, know that you have a choice. You can either keep worrying, or you can surrender it all to God and choose to pray about everything. There is power in having faith that God can work all things together for your good.”
Neither Chahal nor Dhanashree has officially made a statement regarding the finalisation of the divorce so far. Further reports suggest that Chahal may pay Rs 60 crore as alimony.
Chahal will resume his cricket in IPL 2025 with Punjab Kings next month.
