In the ongoing first ODI between India Women and Ireland Women, the pair of Jemimah Rodrigues and Richa Ghosh ran out Una Raymond-Hoey. The Ireland batter was run out in the ninth over of the ongoing match. The visitors won the toss and elected to bat at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Rajkot. They had a great start with 27/0 in four overs.
Titas Sadhu broke the opening stand with the wicket of Sarah Forbes in the fifth over. After this wicket, the European side managed to hit only one four and played a lot of dot balls for the next four overs. In the ninth over, Raymond-Hoey went for a non-existent quick single. This led to a confusion between Raymond and Gaby Lewis.
The former went halfway down the wicket from the strike end but before she could make it back, the throw from Rodrigues was received by Ghosh, who removed the bails.

Notably, ahead of the series, India Women’s regular skipper Harmanpreet Kaur and pacer Renuka Thakur have been rested for the ongoing three-match ODI series. Kaur is asked to report to the NCA to monitor her fitness as she missed the T20I series against West Indies. Smriti Mandhana has been asked to lead the side during the series.

Skipper Gaby Lewis (92) missed her hundred as she was caught and bowled by Deepti Sharma in the 44th over. After losing four wickets for 56 runs, Lewis and Leah Paul (59) stitched a partnership of 117 runs for the fifth wicket. This partnership has ensured that the team can put a challenge against the home side.
