Five-time winners Mumbai Indians (MI) have managed to build a strong team consisting of 23 players. The last time they won the IPL title was way back in 2020. Since then, the team has finished last twice (2022 and 2024) and qualified for the playoffs in 2023. This time around, the team looks well balanced and will be favorites to go all the way. In this listicle let’s have a look at four overseas players who will play for the former champions.
4 overseas players who will play for MI
1. Ryan Rickelton
The wicketkeeper batter from South Africa will be playing in the IPL for the first time. He plays for MI Cape Town, an SA20 subsidiary of the Mumbai Indians. Rickelton made his name at the highest level recently after scoring his maiden double hundred against Pakistan in the New Year’s Test match. The left-hander is certain to open the batting for the former champs.

2. Mitchell Santner
The left-arm spinner from New Zealand has moved from Chennai Super Kings to their arch-rivals, Mumbai Indians. He has played only 18 games for the Yellow brigade from 2019 to 2024 but his performance in international cricket cannot be ignored. While Santner didn’t feature in the CSK playing XI, he might play more frequently for MI.
3. Allah Ghazanfar
The mystery spinner from Afghanistan is an unknown commodity in international cricket. Not many players from around the world have seen him, which makes him a weapon in the bowling department. Spin bowling has never been a strong forte for the team although some wonderful spinners have played for the team. Ghazanfar will surely play.
4. Trent Boult
Having been separated from MI during the 2022 mega auction, the WTC 2021 winner is reunited with the five-time winners. He is expected to bowl three overs in the powerplay and provide breakthroughs with the new ball.
