Last week, India played host to inaugural Kho Kho World Cup 2025 in Delhi. The tournament was played between January 13 to January 19. The tournament was played in Men’s & Women’s categories with 20 Men’s and 19 Women’s teams participating in the tournament. In the Men’s categories, all teams were divided into four groups of five each.
As far as the Women’s category is concerned, only India’s group consisted of four teams while the rest consisted of five teams. Talking about both Indian teams, they went onto clinch the title undefeated. India Men’s beat Nepal, Brazil, Peru, and Bhutan in the group stage. On the other hand, the Women’s team beat South Korea, Malaysia, and Iran.

Talking about India Men’s knockout journey, they played the Quarterfinal vs Sri Lanka while the Women’s team played against Bangladesh. The Men’s and Women’s played the semis against South Africa and the final against Nepal.

Both Indian teams won the title unbeaten. While the Men’s team got some competition from teams such as Nepal and South Africa, the Women’s team won every game by big margins.
Speaking to ANI after the win, India Men’s skipper Pratik Waikar said, “This feeling gives me goosebumps that I am the first World Cup-winning captain. This win is of the team, would like to credit them. They have worked really hard and given great performances.”
