Team India wrapped the five-match T20I series against England 2025 at home with a ringing 150-run victory over their visitors at the iconic Wankhede in Mumbai on Sunday. The men in blue sealed a 4-1 victory over Jos Buttler and Co by this win.
Former British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak had graced the stadium and witnessed the match. He was with his father-in-law, Narayana Murthy, along with other big names present at the game.
Sunak took to social media platform X, formerly Twitter, after the match to share his thoughts.
“Rough day for England at the Wankhede, but I know our team will come back stronger,” he wrote.
The post continued: “Congratulations to Team India for the victory.”
Sunak also had brief interactions with the respective team captains Suryakumar Yadav and Jos Buttler before the start of the game and wished both of them all the best.
The 44-year-old added, “Whatever the result, it was a privilege meeting @josbuttler and @surya_14kumar before the match and a pleasure watching it with my father-in-law.”

After winning the toss, English skipper Jos Buttler sent India in to bat first, who made merry after a brilliant opening innings from Abhishek Sharma, hammering a staggering 135 runs with a not-so-difficult time for the English bowlers, and set a target of 247 for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs.
India encore their show in unison with good sets of bowling performances to put their batting innings up, hammering hapless England to a pretended final score of 97 inside 10.3 overs. Phil Salt’s Lone Ranger innings of 55 from 23 balls proved to be just a consolation for England, who were entirely outclassed in the game.
With Abhishek being named man of the match, spinner Varun Chakravarthy collected the player of the series award for his incredible showing throughout the campaign.
