On 30 May 2025, during the inauguration of the new terminal, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Vaibhav Suryavanshi and his family at Patna Airport. Modi congratulated Vaibhav on his glorious innings in the IPL 2025.
Vaibhav, bought by Rajasthan Royals in the IPL mega auction for 1.1 crore, garnered attention with his fearless batting. He scored 252 runs in 7 innings, including a classy 35-ball hundred against Gujarat Titans. Vaibhav also showed a more refined innings against Chennai Super Kings, indicating he can match power with patience.

While Modi was in Patna for the inauguration of the terminal at the airport, he was welcomed by Vaibhav and his parents. The young player’s skill was appreciated by the PM on social media and wished him well for the next chapter.

The next big challenge for this young 14-year-old cricketer is the India U19 tour of England in June-July 2025, consisting of a warm-up game, a five-match ODI series, and two multi-day matches. This tour will mark Vaibhav’s first outing playing in England and also will set him up for the 2026 U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup.

Speaking at the launch of Khelo India Youth Games in Bihar, PM Modi praised Vaibhav as the son of Bihar. He spoke highly of his quick century in IPL and exhorted youngsters to go out and play regularly and succeed along with the saying-“Jo jitna khelega, woh utna khilega”.
