Jasprit Bumrah got into action in Beckenham for the buildup of the five-Test series against England starting June 20 at Headingley. This is the dawn of a new era for India as the team steps out sans the big names accompanying Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Shubman Gill is putting his young shoulders to work as India’s youngest-ever Test captain, with an eye on the World Test Championship.
Setting the net sessions in Beckenham, Bumrah unleashed his usually swift bowling. His prowess without needing the pitch was witnessed as he showed some wonderful seam movement to continue troubling the batsmen. ESPNcricinfo considered him instrumental with his yorkers around the 7-8-meter mark to keep the batters guessing.
Bumrah was also seen conversing with bowling coach Morne Morkel about his previous experiences at Trent Bridge, reminiscing how the Duke’s ball behaved back at the old days of 2018 against how it behaves in recent tours.

The five-Test series will see a restricted playing role for Bumrah. As per chief selector Ajit Agarkar, there are plans to ensure Bumrah does not play consecutive Tests for workload management. This same caution stems from Bumrah sustaining a back injury smack in the middle of a Test against
Australia earlier this year. He later missed the Champions Trophy 2025 but was back on the field representing Mumbai Indians in the IPL. The head coach Gautam Gambhir, however, added that they still haven’t figured out which Tests Bumrah will play in.
