Stokes and McCullum were out on the pitch checking it out for the Manchester Test which starts on Wednesday. After their 22 run win at Lord’s the Three Lions are 2-1 up in the series. Now India face Stokes’ team in the 4th Test at Old Trafford.
Earlier Liam Dawson, the left arm spinner, was named in the England team for the 4th Test. There is only one change from the team that won at Lord’s. Dawson, 35, replaces Shoaib Malik who broke his finger while fielding on Day 3 of the 3rd Test and is out for the series. Malik was England’s main spinner in the first three Tests.
Dawson hasn’t played a Test for England since 2017 so he’s back in the format after eight years. The orthodox spinner who first played against India in 2016 has seven Test wickets. He got the spot due to his work in the County Championship where he has 21 wickets in nine games for Hampshire.
England are keeping the other 10 players from their close win over India which put them 2-1 up in the ICC World Test Championship series.
In the Lord’s Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025, India’s Mohammed Siraj was out when the ball hit the stumps after landing on the pitch. This ended India’s resistance and left Ravindra Jadeja stranded after a 22 run loss.
