Pakistan Super League (PSL) that is one of the most prominent leagues in the world has a past full of great players who have made a name for themselves in this big tournament. Among those have been brilliant performances paying the highest for their registration in PSL history and they have taken the name of Pakistan.

From the very first season in 2016, the standards have been set, and players have consistently lived up to them through high-quality performances. Hence, the players with the highest wickets in PSL history will be discussed in this article.

    5. Faheem Ashraf – 95 Wickets In 84 Matches

At the fifth position on the list is the right-arm medium-pace all-rounder Faheem Ashraf. He has played for both Islamabad United and Quetta Gladiators and thus has had a significant influence on cricket in this league. He made his debut in 2018, and since then has played 84 matches, during which he has bagged 95 wickets with an average of 24.13 and with the economy of 8.75.

In the past, Ashraf has been quite consistent, managing to pick two five-wicket hauls and a couple of four-wicket hauls, while his strike rate of 16.54 has been effective, particularly with the ball in hand, as he can get some valuable wickets. With the best figures of 6 for 19, it is definite that Ashraf has the capability to swing the match in his side’s favor.

    4. Shadab Khan – 105 Wickets In 94 Matches

Just behind Ashraf comes the fourth player on this list, a leg-spinner, and one of the most critical players on the Pakistan team, Shadab Khan. Shadab, a leg-spinner who has played for the Islamabad United team only in this league, made his debut in 2017 and has already participated in 94 matches, bowling in 92 innings and to be precise, finished his nine seasons with a total of exactly 330 overs bowled.

In his spell of 105 wickets, Shadab has managed to secure them at a price of 24.20 runs per wicket while being very economical at 7.71 runs per over. With a strike rate of 18.85, he has claimed three four-wicket hauls and one five-wicket haul so far, with a best of 5 for 28. The year 2022 was the most flourishing season for him with the ball, when he took 19 wickets at an average of just 10.89 and was very economical (6.46) in the nine matches he played for his team.

    3. Wahab Riaz – 113 Wickets In 88 Matches

The third position is occupied by a legendary left-arm fast bowler from Pakistan, Wahab Riaz. The 2023 edition was his last one at the end of which he decided to retire, first taking part in the inaugural season of 2016 and playing only for the Peshawar Zalmi team. He ended his career with this franchise after appearing in 88 matches, where he took 113 wickets at 22.68 on average, while his economy was a reasonable 7.79, with the best figures being 4 for 17.

Riaz proved to be a valuable left-arm pacer, and his accurate pace and control with the ball often came in handy for the team. The left-arm bowler had two memorable seasons for his team, during which he was able to acquire 18 wickets each in 2018 and 2021, doing so in 13 and 12 games, respectively, as his performances helped the Zalmi side considerably.

    2. Shaheen Afridi – 122 Wickets In 84 Matches

The second title has been claimed by another Pakistani left-arm pacer, Shaheen Shah Afridi, who is currently among the best pacers in the world. Afridi made his PSL debut in 2018 and has been a monumental player for Lahore Qalandars, winning them three PSL titles, especially through his captaincy as he has been fantastic with the ball.

Through 84 matches, Afridi has taken 122 total wickets at the cost of 20.31 runs each while conceding 7.97 runs every 6 balls, having three four-wicket hauls and two five-wicket hauls. His 5/4 is one of the best in PSL and indeed in many leagues across the world.

Coming in the year 2000, Afridi’s mark was in 2022 when he appeared in 13 games and took 20 wickets at an economy rate of only 7.57 while averaging 19.70. In the current 2025 season, he bagged 19 wickets in 13 outings.

    1. Hasan Ali – 125 Wickets In 92 Matches

With 125 wickets in 92 matches, the right-arm pacer Hasan Ali, who has played for Islamabad United, Karachi Kings, and Peshawar Zalmi, now tops the list. Ali, who has been very influential in the past after debuting in 2016 with Zalmi and currently representing the Karachi team in this six-team competition.

Ali has been amazing throughout his PSL career, as he was consistent with his wicket-taking at regular intervals. While bowling at an average of 22.62 with an economy of 8.14, Hasan has been able to achieve five four-wicket hauls so far in his career while taking wickets at a strike rate of 16.6.

The year 2019 marked the pinnacle of Hasan’s bowling career, during which he claimed 25 wickets in 13 matches for Zalmi at a stunning average of 13.64 and an economy of 6.77. Hasan’s continued excellent play keeps him in this top spot and those chances of course to enjoy the same success in the future are very likely to materialize too.
