Cricket is a game full of stats and records. With so much cricket being played worldwide, we get to see big records getting tumbled here and there. But then there are some records which are very rare and hard to get. One such record we will talk here about. Hitting sixes is an art, and there are some rare occasions when players go on to hit six sixes in an over.
In international cricket, only five times a batter has achieved the feat of six sixes in an over. Meanwhile, in domestic cricket, there are seven such occasions. Hence, one can say that it is one of the rarest feats in this sport. And here we will talk about all the instances in international cricket and domestic level when a batter has hit six consecutive sixes in an over.
6 Ball 6 Sixes in International Cricket
1. Herschelle Gibbs vs Netherlands in 2007 ODI World Cup
Former South African superstar Herschelle Gibbs was the first player to hit six sixes in an over, and he did it on a big stage during the 2007 ODI World Cup in West Indies. It was the game against Netherlands in Basseterre, and Gibbs smashed six sixes in an over of Daan van Bunge to achieve this record. He became the first ever batter to do so in international cricket. Gibbs scored 72 off 40 and won the Player of the Match award. South Africa scored 353/3 and restricted Netherlands to 132/9 to win by 221 runs.

2. Yuvraj Singh vs England in 2007 T20 World Cup
Just a few months after Gibbs achieved this record, India’s Yuvraj Singh also made history. It came during a must-win game against England during the 2007 T20 World Cup in South Africa. This was more special because Yuvraj had an ugly exchange with Andrew Flintoff just before this incident. Yuvraj took that anger on to Stuart Broad and smashed him for six consecutive sixes to different parts of the ground. In doing so, he registered a 12-ball fifty, which is the fastest fifty in T20 World Cup history. Yuvraj scored 58 off 16, and India made 218/4 and won that game by 18 runs. The Indian star was named Man of the Match for his blistering knock.
