The eliminator clash of RR vs RCB was a mixed pool of emotions, emotional and sad that marked the goodbye for the Dinesh Kartik. Have been played for different franchises during his overall IPL career since the beginning of the format in 2008 Kartik bids farewell after the eliminator loss and defeat in the Wednesday eliminator match between RR and RCB.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore lost their IPL 2024 Eliminator match to the Rajasthan Royals. This wasn’t just a disappointing loss, it also marked the end of an era for a favorite player. Dinesh Karthik, who has played for RCB (and other teams) for many years, might have played his last IPL game.
When the final dismissal happened, he took off his gloves, signaling not only the end of the match but possibly his time in the tournament altogether. His heartfelt embrace with Virat Kohli showed the deep respect and bond they’ve formed through their IPL experiences.

However, nothing has been officially cleared by the Player himself so there could still be a ray of hope for his fans that he might return the next season.
Is it a Goodbye or is Still Kartik Returning Next Season?
RCB’s dream run in IPL 2024 came to a crashing halt after their Eliminator loss to the Rajasthan Royals. Besides the cup loss, there was more personal loss the team faced as Dinesh Karthik, the experienced wicketkeeper who’s been a fixture for RCB (and other teams) over the years, was seen getting a heartfelt goodbye from his teammates.
The emotional scene, with Karthik seemingly taking off his gloves for the final time, sent a wave of speculation through the cricketing world. Did this mark the end of an era for DK in the IPL? Although there hasn’t been an official announcement, the actions after the match strongly suggested that retirement might be on the cards for DK.

An emotional silence descended on the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad after RCB’s Eliminator loss. In an emotional tone, Dinesh Kartik took off his gloves and walked around the stadium, giving a thankful note for the audience’s presence to witness the match and the love they had been pouring on the players and soaking in the cheers from the crowd.

Dinesh Karthik, a player everyone knew for years, stayed on the field. Even his teammates, usually loud and happy, were silent. “When he shook hands with the Rajasthan players, it felt different. It seemed like a special goodbye.” Jurel gave him a big hug. It felt like Jurel respected Karthik a lot and maybe felt a bit sad to see such a great player like him stop playing. The slow walk back suggested a farewell, leaving everyone wondering if this was Karthik’s last IPL game.
RCB Signs off Kartik with a Guard Of Honor
He was given a “Guard of Honor” by his teammates at Royal Challengers Bengaluru, indicating that this looked like this might be Karthik’s last IPL game. However, there aren’t any official confirmations and statements from Kartik’s side for the retirement. But RCB coach Andy Flower admitted that Karthik has ‘possibly’ played his final game.
