2018 – A Tough Fight
In the 2018 IPL final, SRH played against Chennai Super Kings. SRH were defeated however after their heroic performance with just 8 wickets lost in a run chase of 179 declared by CSK. 47 runs were pitched by Kane Williamson the then-captain of the SRH team. Nevertheless, Shane Watson of the CSK team scored not out after facing 57 balls and amassed 117 runs thus making his side win the match.
2016 – The Glorious Victory
David Warner captained SRH as they clinched their first-ever IPL title in 2016. It was a high-octane final against RCB that was hosted at Bangalore’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Courtesy of Warner’s blazing 69 runs from just 38 balls and Ben Cutting’s quickfire 39 runs off 15 deliveries, SRH posted a commanding total of 208/7. Similarly, Cutting was the standout bowler with figures of 2/35 thereby enabling Sunrisers Hyderabad to win the championship with an 8-run margin.
2009 Champions Deccan Chargers aka SRH
Before SRH, there was Deccan Chargers, a team based in Hyderabad. Established in 2008, the Deccan Chargers had a mixed bag of performances.
Sunrisers came into existence after Deccan Chargers were terminated in 2012. Before it, the team was known as the Deccan Chargers and have clinched their first title of IPL season with the same name.The Deccan Chargers clinched their maiden IPL title on May 24 after defeating the Royal Challengers Bangalore by 6 runs in the final match.
