Top 10: Most Runs Conceded by Bowlers (Innings) in IPL History (2008-2024)
T20 cricket has been a bit cruel for bowlers. Batters have enjoyed swinging their bats on flatter decks and grounds with shorter boundaries.
With conditions not favouring them a lot, things can go pretty for bowlers in no time. We have seen this in the Indian Premier League (IPL), where batters have taken bowlers to the cleaners.
There have been many instances where bowlers have leaked record runs to end up worst bowling figures.
On that note, this article lists the top 10 instances of the most runs conceded by bowlers (innings) in IPL history.

10. Umesh Yadav – 0/65
Umesh Yadav is among the most accurate bowlers in the IPL. But he had an off day against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in 2013.
The duo of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers mauled him for 5 fours and as many sixes. That resulted in Yadav conceding 65 runs in his four overs.
9. Kwena Maphaka – 0/66
An emerging talent from South Africa, Kwena Maphaka made his IPL debut for Mumbai Indians (MI) on March 27, 2024. But he had a forgettable outing against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
SRH’s top-order batters were breathing fire on a flat Hyderabad pitch, and Maphaka found himself on the receiving end. He conceded 66 runs in his four overs without adding a wicket to his tally.
8. Arshdeep Singh – 1/66
Arshdeep Singh has emerged as Punjab Kings‘ (PBKS) best bowler over the years. But the left-arm pacer was ineffective against MI in 2023.
PBKS were defending a target of 215 runs, but Ishan Kishan and Tilak Varma smashed Singh for boundaries. He gave away 66 runs in his four overs while taking a wicket.
7. Mujeeb Ur Rahman – 0/66
Afghanistan’s Mujeeb Ur Rahman had a rough day against SRH in the 2019 IPL. Bowling for Kings XI Punjab (now PBKS), he was the only bowler to not pick a wicket.
Rather, Mujeeb went for runs as SRH’s batters smashed his across the park. The Afghani spinner leaked 66 runs in his four overs.

6. Ishant Sharma – 0/66
Ishant Sharma bowled one of the most expensive figures back in 2013. The tall pacer was steaming in for SRH against Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
Sharma first faced wrath from CSK’s openers before Suresh Raina smashed him for 25 runs. He conceded 66 runs in his four overs without taking a wicket.
5. Luke Wood – 1/68
The 2024 season was a bit harsh on almost every bowler. Luke Wood got a bitter taste of it on his IPL debut while bowling for MI against Delhi Capitals (DC).
Wood did get a wicket, but DC’s top-order batters slammed him for 68 runs, including 9 fours and 3 sixes. Jake Fraser-McGurk (19 runs) and Tristan Stubbs (27) did the most damage.
4. Reece Topley – 1/68
Another England bowler makes it to this list. Reece Topley conceded the fourth-most runs in an IPL innings.
RCB decided to bowl first against SRH, but the decision turned out to be a disaster, especially for Topley. The left-arm pacer gave away 68 runs in his four overs as SRH posted 287 on the board.
3. Yash Dayal – 0/69
Yash Dayal conceded the third-most runs in an innings in IPL history. He was defending Gujarat Titans’ 204 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
Dayal leaked 38 runs in his first three overs, with Venkatesh Iyer pummeling him for boundaries. But then things changed upside down, as he came to bowl the last, with KKR needing 29 runs to win.
Dayal gave away a single, but then Rinku Singh came on the crease and cantered him for five consecutive sixes, taking KKR over the ropes and his figures to zero of 69.

2. Basil Thampi – 0/70
Basil Thampi held the record for conceding the most runs in an innings for seven years. Now he sits in second place.
On that unfortunate day, RCB’s Moeen Ali, AB de Villiers, Colin de Grandhomme, and Sarfaraz Khan took Thampi to the cleaners. Playing for SRH, he ended up with figures of zero for 70 in his four overs.
1. Mohit Sharma – 0/73
Mohit Sharma broke the seven-season-old record by conceding the most runs in an IPL innings. He logged this unwanted record while playing for GT against DC in 2024.
Sharma came to bowl in the 12th over, and Rishabh Pant welcomed him with two fours in his first over. He then returned in the death overs only to get belted at the hands of Pant and Tristan Stubbs.
Pant alone scored 62 runs off Sharma’s bowling, taking his figures to none for 73 in four overs. Delhi cruised to 224 runs, which they defended by a margin of four runs.
