The five-time IPL champions, Mumbai Indians, put up an awful performance last season. They finished at the bottom of the table under Hardik Pandya’s leadership.
Now, the franchise has replenished their stocks for the upcoming IPL 2025. MI have bolstered their pace attack with the addition of experienced fast bowlers. On top of that, they have brought in new overseas batters to add more firepower.
With significant changes made in the squad, MI would hope to make a turnaround and get back to their winning way.
But before that, we need to look at Mumbai Indians’ strongest playing XI for IPL 2025.
MI Squad for IPL 2025:
Suryakumar Yadav, Rohit Sharma, Tilak Varma, Bevon Jacobs, Hardik Pandya (c), Naman Dhir, Raj Angad Bawa, Deepak Chahar, Will Jacks, Mitchell Santner, Ryan Rickelton, Robin Minz, Krishnan Shrijith, Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult, Ashwani Kumar, Reece Topley, Lizaad Williams, Satyanarayana Raju, Arjun Tendulkar, Karn Sharma, Allah Ghazanfar, Vignesh Puthur

Openers: Rohit Sharma, Ryan Rickelton
With the captaincy snub, Rohit Sharma didn’t look in his element last season. He had an on-and-off outing with the bat. But with all things good now, he would like to put up a show in IPL 2025.
He will have the company of MI’s new recruit, Ryan Rickelton. The South African has been in good touch with the bat of late. And he has played for MI’s sister franchise in SA20 for the last three years. Rickelton will also keep the wickets.
Middle Order: Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Will Jacks, Naman Dhir, Hardik Pandya
Mumbai will have a solid middle order with a lot of familiar faces. India’s current captain, Suryakumar Yadav, will have the primary responsibility of aggressive run-scoring.
He will get assistance from Tilak Varma and Naman Dhir, who have shown their fearless striking in the past few seasons. Varma, especially, will play a crucial role at No. 4.
Then, MI will have a new batting all-rounder in Will Jacks. The England player had an impressive outing with RCB last season, scoring 230 runs, which included a hundred.
It will be hard-hitting Hardik Pandya, who will walk in at No. 7 to give a powerful finish.
Bowlers: Mitchell Santner, Trent Boult, Jasprit Bumrah, Deepak Chahar
Mumbai’s pace attack has become stronger with the return of Trent Boult. The opposition batters will have a hard time against the pace duo of Boult and Jasprit Bumrah.
The last time this duo played together, Mumbai went on to win their fifth IPL title. So, Boult and Bumrah will be crucial for MI to have a good season.
They will get help from Deepak Chahar, who has moved from CSK to MI this season. The Indian seamer can create an impact in the powerplay.
Another former CSK player, Mitchell Santner, will turn in blue and gold to lead their spin attack. He is an economical bowler and a fine fielder.

Impact Player: Karn Sharma
If MI go in with only one specialist spinner, they will bring in Karn Sharma as an impact player. He can replace Suryakumar Yadav or Naman Dhir in the XI.
