Suryakumar Yadav played his IPL debut match on April 6, 2012. He made his debut for Mumbai Indians against Pune Warriors at the Wankhede Stadium.
Surya’s debut wasn’t memorable, as he scored a duck in a run chase of 129 runs, which Mumbai lost by 28 runs. This was also the only match he featured in the entire season.

Suryakumar Yadav Performance in IPL 2024
Suryakumar Yadav had a good outing in IPL 2024. He started the season a bit late as he was recovering from an injury.
But once Surya returned, he took no time to perform at his best. The right-hand batter accumulated 345 runs in 11 innings at a strike rate of 167.47. His tally included a match-winning century against Hyderabad, scored at a strike rate of 200 and three fifties.

Suryakumar Yadav’s last IPL appearance came in the 2024 season on May 17, 2024. He played against Lucknow Super Giants at the Wankhede Stadium.
It was also Mumbai’s last league game, and Surya ended his 2024 campaign with a three-ball duck in a failed chase of 215 runs.

Suryakumar Yadav IPL Auction and History
Suryakumar Yadav got his first IPL deal in 2011. Mumbai Indians signed the local talent at INR 10 lakhs in the 2011 auction.
After only one appearance for MI in three editions, the franchise released him ahead of the 2014 season. Then Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) bought Surya in the 2017 auction for INR 70 lakhs.
After his inconsistent run for four seasons, KKR let go of him ahead of IPL 2018. Then MI purchased Surya again, but this time they shelled INR 3.20 crore.
Since then, MI hasn’t overlooked him, as Surya continues to deliver his best. Ahead of the 2022 season, Mumbai retained him for INR 8 crore. Now, Surya will command a salary of INR 16.35 crore from IPL 2025.
