India’s squad for the Champions Trophy is expected to be announced on January 18. Notably, the ICC’s deadline to name the provisional squad was January 12. Teams such as England, South Africa, Afghanistan, New Zealand, Australia, and Bangladesh are the only six teams that have announced their squads. On the other hand, the remaining two teams of the tournament, India and Pakistan are yet to announce their team.
The reason for the BCCI delaying the squad is to be completely sure of Jasprit Bumrah’s fitness although the fast bowler has claimed that there is nothing to worry about his fitness. Another reason could be that the selectors are waiting for the conclusion of the final of Vijay Hazare Trophy on January 18. Looking at the pattern of BCCI announcing the team, it is expected that the announcement will be done around 9 PM on Saturday.
