The 1st T20I of the upcoming South Africa tour of Australia 2025 will be played on August 10 in Tarouba. This is a three-match T20I series, to be followed by as many ODIs. This is a rare event when Australia plays a home series in August. Apparently, their home cricket season starts in October and ends in March. Their last home series was against Zimbabwe in 2022.
Coming back to the series, both teams played each other in June for the World Test Championship final 2023-25. The Proteas created history as they beat the then defending champions to claim their maiden Test championship. Since then, the T20 World Cup 2021 winners have beaten West Indies 5-0 in a T20I series. On the other hand, the T20 WC 2024 finalists lost the Zimbabwe Tri-Nation finals to New Zealand.
