With the Champions Trophy 2025 over, teams will now set their eyes on the next year’s T20 World Cup. And the Asian teams will start preparing for the global T20 tournament with the Asia Cup.
The continental cricket tournament will return in 2025. Keeping in mind the T20 World Cup, it will follow the shorter format this time around.
The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) will organise the Asia Cup 2025 between September 9 and September 28. Additionally, it will take place in the UAE, even though India are the official hosts.
As many as eight teams will be in action in the Asia Cup 2025. Five full members – Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka – gained automatic qualification, while the UAE, Oman, and Hong Kong qualified through the 2024 ACC Premier Cup.
These teams will be divided into two groups of four sides each. During the group stage, they will face the other group members once.
Then, the top two teams from both groups will move into the Super Four stage, where the four sides will take on one another to seal the two final spots.
All in all, 19 matches will take place in the Asia Cup 2025, with the possibility of rivals India and Pakistan meeting three times.
