Cricket is huge in Asia. It’s full of passion, rivalries and great moments. For India, the Asia Cup is where legends are born and pressure is overcome. Each match tests talent and spirit and India has passed many of those tests.
Here are five of India’s best Asia Cup matches, from thrillers to easy wins. More than just games, they’re memories.
1. India vs Pakistan, 2012 Asia Cup (Group Stage)

This is a classic ODI between the two teams. Pakistan scored 329/6 with Hafeez and Nasir Jamshed both hitting centuries. But India, thanks to Virat Kohli’s 183, chased it down.

- Result: India won by 6 wickets
This match showed confidence and skill. People still talk about Kohli’s innings as one of the best in ODIs.
2. India vs Sri Lanka, 2016 Asia Cup (Group Match)

Many remember the final but India’s group stage win against Sri Lanka showed their T20 strength.

- India: 142/5 (19.2 overs)
- Result: India won by 5 wickets
Virat Kohli led the chase with a 56* and India got to the target with 4 balls left. This win helped India top the table and reach the final where they beat Bangladesh to win the cup.
3. India vs Bangladesh, 2018 Asia Cup Final

This was a real nail biter and went down to the last ball. Bangladesh scored 222 with Liton Das hitting a century. India’s chase was tested till the last ball.

- Result: India won by 3 wickets
Even with a hamstring injury Kedar Jadhav came back to bat and won the game in the last over. It was a very dramatic finish in Asia Cup history.
4. India vs Sri Lanka, 1995 Asia Cup Final
India played well in this final with both bat and ball. After restricting Sri Lanka to 230 the Indian top order made the chase look easy.

- Result: India won by 8 wickets
Azharuddin remained unbeaten on 90 and this win gave India their fourth Asia Cup title and proved they can win finals.

5. India vs Sri Lanka, 1986 Asia Cup Final (Note: India didn’t win this match)
Let’s set the record straight: India lost the 1986 final to Sri Lanka. But their performances in the early tournaments especially with Kapil Dev’s skills helped build India’s future in the tournament.

- India: 191 all out (42.2 overs)
- Result: Sri Lanka won by 5 runs
Though they lost, this match was an important part of India’s Asia Cup journey.
