It is time for yet another action-packed season for New Zealand’s premier List A tournament, The Ford Cup. The 54th edition of the tournament will get underway on October 20, with a total of six teams. This tournament has been the base of New Zealand cricket, which has produced some great legends in New Zealand cricket history.
It started back in 1971. The upcoming edition will have 32 electrifying matches, which will be played across 11 different venues in New Zealand. The teams to take part in the competition are Auckland, Canterbury, Central Districts, Northern Districts, Otago, and Wellington. The 16-time champion Canterbury will defend their title in the coming edition.
This tournament is played in a round-robin, preliminary finals, and final format. The upcoming tournament will have almost all the Kiwi international stars featuring who are not on national duties. This will give a good platform for the team as there is a 50-over Champions Trophy coming up in February. The Ford Trophy 2024-25 will conclude on March 2.
