After the immense success of the Indian Premier League, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) introduced the women’s version of the tournament, called the Women’s Premier League, in 2023. The second edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL 2024) saw five teams competing with each other. So, those five sides will be taking place again in the WPL 2025. There was some news that some IPL franchises want to buy a WPL team, but there is nothing official. WPL 2025: Squads (Proposed)
Just like the second season, the WPL 2025 is likely to be held in February and March. It might get clashed with the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The WPL 2025 will be played with a similar format as the last edition. It will be double round-robin format, then the qualifiers. All teams will play eight matches (twice against all four other teams). Then, the top team will qualify directly for the final, while the second and third ranked teams will play in the Eliminator. We saw the matches in the WPL 2024 being played across two different venues in India. The first half of the tournament was hosted at the M.
