Cricketer-turned-commentator Aakash Chopra has predicted India’s squad for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025. The Men In Blue are looking to redeem themselves in the tournament after failing to qualify for the World Test Championship 2025 final. Before the tournament, the team will play a three-match ODI series against England at home. Players who were part of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy aren’t playing in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy.
On the other hand, some probables for the tournament, who were part of the Australia series, have been playing in India’s premier domestic tournament. They were also playing in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (T20 tournament). Meanwhile, Chopra in his latest YouTube video has predicted that Yashasvi Jaiswal, Mohammed Shami will be part of the team. The former is yet to play ODI cricket while Shami is playing Vijay Hazare in a bid to make a comeback.
On the other hand, the commentator has left out players such as Suryakumar Yadav, Shardul Thakur, and Sanju Samson.
“I feel Suryakumar Yadav won’t be a part of this team. He is actually not playing ODIs and hasn’t scored runs in Vijay Hazare as well. Sanju Samson hasn’t played at all. One didn’t play, and the other didn’t score runs, so their names are not going to come. Suryakumar Yadav isn’t there, but Shreyas Iyer is. Since the start of the World Cup, he has scored 620 runs in 15 innings, with two centuries, at a strike rate of 112 and an average of 52. Iyer is on fire,” said Chopra on his YouTube channel.
“After that, I have left Shardul Thakur out. So I have got Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Mohammed Shami and Arshdeep Singh. Jasprit Bumrah shouldn’t be spoken about. Mohammed Shami should 100 percent go if he is fit. He should play against England as well,” he added.
