Amit Mishra, a well-knowns cricketer from India, has come forward to set the record straight about some troubling news that’s been making the rounds. He firmly stated that he is unmarried and took a strong stand against media reports that inaccurately link him to a baseless case involving domestic violence and demands for dowry. It’s upsetting for him to see his photo being used in a story that has no truth behind it.
Mishra expressed, It’s really heartbreaking to see all of this out there. Everyone knows that I’m unmarried, so why are these ridiculous stories being put out with my picture? What kind of reporting is happening? If these media outlets don’t fix this mistake soon, I will have no choice but to take legal action. My family is quite upset about all of this. This isn’t what journalism should be about.
His reaction comes after various media sources claimed that a particular cricketer and their family were involved in a dowry harassment case. They mentioned a ridiculous demand of 1 crore rupees from his wife and made allegations of asking for dowry that included 10 lakh rupees and a car. While they didn’t mention Mishra by name, several articles included his photo, which he found incredibly disappointing.
Amit took to social media, previously known as Twitter, to share his thoughts with the public. He wrote, I have always respected the press, but while the core of the news might be accurate, the fact that they used my photo is just wrong. They need to stop using my image for stories that don’t involve me at all, or I will have to think about taking legal steps.
His longtime coach, Sanjay Bhardwaj, also shared his thoughts on this unfolding situation, voicing his confusion. He said, Amit is unmarried. We can’t understand why such a story was even created. This doesn’t reflect good journalism. They should be double-checking their facts before writing something like this.
Mishra has had a prominent cricket career, playing in 22 Tests, 36 One Day Internationals, and 10 Twenty20 Internationals, which has led him to take 156 wickets on the international stage. Additionally, he is known for being one of the top wicket-takers in IPL history, with a total of 174 wickets. His last time in action on the cricket field was during IPL 2024 while playing for Lucknow Super Giants, where he took on the role of an Impact Player. Mishra’s talent on the field is evident, and it’s clear that the personal attacks and false narratives he’s facing are far from what any player should deal with.
