India pacer Arshdeep Singh’s old video of bowling inswing, also known as ‘Banana Swing’, has been going viral. In a video uploaded on County Championship’s official X account, Singh bowled an inswing delivery to Paul Walter. The latter missed the ball completely as he couldn’t counter the sharp swing off the surface. This match was played between Kent and Essex during County Championship Division One 2023.
The left-arm pacer, Singh played for Kent during the season. Talking about the dismissal, it happened during the first innings of Essex after Kent were bowled out for 207 runs batting first. In reply, Essex were 241/4 in the 85th over before Singh clean bowled Walter. The 25-year-old, Singh took three wickets in that match. However, the lack of support from other bowlers meant that Essex declared their innings with 458/8 on the board.

In the second innings, Kent were trailing by 251 runs. They were bowled out for only 280 runs which meant that Essex only needed to score 30 runs to win the game. They did so despite losing three wickets. Meanwhile, talking about Singh, the 2023 County Championship Division One is the only season in which he participated. The U19 World Cup 2018 winner played five games and took 19 wickets averaging 41.69.
Arshdeep Singh yet to make his Test debut for India
The T20 World Cup 2024 winner has played 21 First Class, including five for Kent and 16 for Punjab. He has picked up 66 wickets averaging 30.37 including a six-wicket haul. During the recently-concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25, India felt the lack of support for Jasprit Bumrah, who took 32 wickets in nine innings. The team lacks a left-arm pace bowling option in the longest format of the game.
The Guna-born player has been part of India’s T20I side and has played eight ODIs for the Men In Blue. He helped India winning the Men’s T20 World Cup last year with 17 wickets in eights games and was the joint-highest wicket taker alongside Afghanistan’s Fazalhaq Farooqi. Singh could be considered for the upcoming Champions Trophy as the fitness concerns looms around Mohammed Shami.
