The BCCI will hold the annual awards for the 2023-24 season. The Naman Awards will take place before India’s fifth T20I fixture against England, held in Mumbai.
After a hiatus of four years, from 2000 to 2004, the Board of Control for Cricket in India returned to its annual tradition of awarding achievers in India- who have immensely contributed for the game.
Leading legends such as Sachin Tendulkar are likely to be awarded with the CK Nayudu LifeTime Achievement Award while Ravichandran Ashwin will receive a special award at the cricketing function. Reports claim that Jasprit Bumrah and Smriti Mandhana are expected to bag some of the top awards on offer owing to their performances in international cricket.
For this season, Bumrah wins the Polly Umrigar Award for the third time in his career: 2018-19 season and the 2021-22 season for his excellence-particular distinction. He breaks the record of Ashwin and Sachin, both of whom received it twice throughout their blossoming careers.
The Best International Debut Award is also beckoning, one instance each, to Sarfaraz Khan and Asha Shobana, while Tanush Kotian from Mumbai will receive the Lala Amarnath Award for the Best All-rounder for the seasons such as Ranji Trophy 2023-24 and Shashank Singh scoring in limited over competitions.
