Harshit Rana, the fast bowler and captain of North Delhi Strikers, was penalized for his aggressive behavior during Match 19 of Delhi Premier League 2025 (DPL 2025). The match was played on Monday, August 11, at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
The incident happened in the 3rd over of West Delhi’s innings. West Delhi was chasing a target of 166. Rana, as captain, got an early breakthrough for his team. He bowled a ball that knocked over Ayush Doseja’s stumps with great force and broke one of the bails. After that Rana pointed towards Doseja and signaled him to go back to the dressing room. In short he gave Doseja an aggressive send off by pointing and telling him to get out.

DPL officials noticed Rana’s action. He was fined 10% of his match fee for violating the code of conduct, specifically Article 2.5. This article covers using language, actions or gestures that disrespects another player or may provoke an aggressive response. Rana accepted the Level 1 offense under this article as he accepted the penalty and no formal hearing was required.
According to the official DPL statement, Rana accepted the Level 1 Offense under Article 2.5 which is for actions that may provoke an aggressive reaction from another player. He accepted the Match Referee’s punishment.

Looking back at the match itself, North Delhi Strikers scored 165/9 in 20 overs after opting to bat first. Sarthak Rajan scored the most runs with 42 off 33 balls and Arjun Rapria chipped in with 40 off 22 balls. For West Delhi, Mayank Gusain bowled well, took 3 wickets for 2 runs and Shubam Dubey took 2 wickets for 26 runs.
In West Delhi’s turn to bat, they were restricted to 154/8 in 20 overs. Deepanshu Gulia was the most successful bowler for North Delhi Strikers, took 3 wickets but conceded 44 runs. Hrithik Shokeen played well for West Delhi, scored 51 off 24 balls. West Delhi fell short of the target despite his efforts.
