1. Stafanie Taylor (West Indies Women): 171 vs Sri Lanka Women in 2013
In 2013, during a group stage match, Stafanie Taylor of the West Indies played a brilliant innings against Sri Lanka. She scored 171 off 137 balls with 18 fours and 2 sixes. She wasn’t alone though, as Kyshona Knight added 44 off 67, Deandra Dottin smashed 50 off 22 and captain Merissa Aguilleira chipped in with 47 not out off 24. Thanks to these performances the West Indies Women scored 368/8 in 50 overs and went on to win the game by 209 runs.
2. Harmanpreet Kaur (India Women): 171* vs Australia Women in 2017
In the 2017 World Cup Semi-final, Harmanpreet Kaur of India played a match winning innings against Australia. With India in trouble, Kaur took charge and scored 171 not out off 115 balls with 20 fours and 7 sixes. Her hitting power helped India reach 281/4 in 42 overs. India went on to win the game by 36 runs and Kaur’s innings was the turning point.
3. Charlotte Edwards (England Women): 173* vs Ireland Women in 1997
In the 1997 World Cup, England’s Charlotte Edwards played a memorable innings against Ireland. Opening the batting, she scored 173 not out off 155 balls with 19 fours. With support from the other batters, England scored 324/3 in 50 overs and went on to win by 208 runs. Edwards’ innings set up the big win.
4. Chamari Athapaththu (Sri Lanka Women): 178* vs Australia Women in 2017
In a league match of the 2017 World Cup, Chamari Athapaththu of Sri Lanka played a great innings against Australia. The top-order batter scored 178 not out off 143 balls with 22 fours and 6 sixes. Despite her brilliant performance Sri Lanka lost the game by 8 wickets with 37 balls left.
6. Belinda Clark (Australia Women): 229* vs Denmark Women in 1997
Belinda Clark, the captain of Australia Women, still holds the record for the highest individual score in Women’s ODI World Cups. In 1997 she scored 229 not out against Denmark, a record that still stands. She reached the score off 155 balls with 22 fours. Australia scored 412/3 in 50 overs and Denmark were bowled out for 49; it was total and utter domination.
