Harshit Rana has been the talk of the town ever since he made his first appearance in international cricket. The young pace sensation made his ODI debut against England in the Nagpur ODI and immediately grabbed the headlines by picking up 3 wickets. Harshit Rana became one of the rare bowlers in World cricket who got 3fer across the 3 formats in his debut match for India.
Harshit Rana has just announced himself on the international stage but is aware of all kinds of gossip that happens around him.
“I believe that people will keep on talking, I just want to play, good or bad. I’m not bothered, I just want to deliver for my country. I don’t pay attention to those talks.”
Rana did not have a fairytale start to his ODI career as Phil Salt who played with him in KKR launched an attack on him smashing him 26 runs in one over.
After a break Rana was once again brought back in the attack by Rohit Sharma and immediately he dismissed England’s Ben Duckett with Yashasvi Jaiswal taking a phenomenal catch.
Rana said,“There are always ups and downs in cricket, I only wanted to focus on my length, bowl where I have to and I got the reward for that later. I didn’t do anything different in my second spell, just focussed on hitting the right areas.”
Rana was given an opportunity in place of injured Jasprit Bumrah in the ODI squad against England but had already made up his mind to play the Nagpur ODI.
“You get to know only when you come to the ground. Mentally, I’m always prepared whenever I come to the ground. I know that I can play anytime, anything can happen. So, mentally, I always keep myself prepared,” he said.
Rana feels that the ODI format is completely different as it tests the bowlers in the different phases of the game; however he’s ready for the challenge that lies in front of him.
Speaking about the same Harshit Rana said, “This format is a bit difficult because it’s a long format, you get (to bowl) 10 overs. You have to play different roles in different phases. But if you practice it (well), it’s good.”
Team India will next play against England in Cuttack on this Sunday.
