Jamie Overton has been included in the England squad for the fifth Test against India, starting July 31. England want to win the series in London after India made a draw in Manchester.
Overton played one Test for England in 2022 against New Zealand, scoring 97 and taking 2 wickets. He hasn’t played a Test since.
The England Men’s selection panel has named Surrey all-rounder Jamie Overton in the squad for the final Test against India at Kia Oval, starting Thursday 31 July, to add some freshness after the fatigue of the fourth Test at Old Trafford.
England spent 143 overs in the field over the last two days as India drew in Manchester. Captain Ben Stokes said he needs fresh legs for the series decider.
Chris Woakes and Brydon Carse have played all four Tests, while Jofra Archer has played two since his return. Stokes was injured during the fourth Test but said it’s very unlikely he’ll miss the Oval match where England can’t lose to win the series.
