It looks like Jasprit Bumrah is all set to play in the Asia Cup 2025.
The Asia Cup 2025 will have 8 teams playing in T20I format. The teams are India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Hong Kong, UAE and Oman. The tournament is from September 9 to 28 in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
Sources at PTI reported on Monday, August 11 that the 31-year-old Ahmedabad bowler will play in the Asia Cup. He might be rested for the first Test against West Indies in early October to keep him fresh.
The Asia Cup 2025 starts on September 9 and India will start their campaign on September 10 against UAE. Everyone is waiting for the India vs Pakistan match on September 14 at Dubai International Stadium.
Bumrah is India’s 5th highest T20I wicket taker. He last played a T20 for India in the final of 2024 T20 World Cup. He bowled 4 overs and took 2 wickets, gave away 18 runs against South Africa at Kensington Oval in Barbados.
PTI says the selection committee headed by Ajit Agarkar might announce India’s squad for Asia Cup on August 19 or 20. They are waiting for medical reports from Centre of Excellence’s (CoE) Sports Science team for all players including captain Suryakumar Yadav. Suryakumar has already started practicing batting in Bengaluru.

Choosing the team might be tough but selectors will likely want to stick with the same players as much as possible. This has worked well since Suryakumar became the T20 captain.
Besides Jasprit Bumrah, Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson might also get a chance to play in Asia Cup 2025 as they both had a great last season with both bat and gloves. Samson will probably be the first choice wicketkeeper. The second wicketkeeper spot will be between Jitesh Sharma and Dhruv Jurel. Jurel played in the last T20 series while Jitesh was outstanding for RCB during their IPL winning season. He has also done well as a finisher.
Here are the players: Suryakumar Yadav (captain), Shubman Gill, Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson, Tilak Verma, Shivam Dube, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Varun Chakravarthy, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana/Prasidh Krishna, Hardik Pandya, Jitesh Sharma/Dhruv Jurel.
